Obituary

SCHENECTADY:  Barbara A. Pallante, 88, passed away at home, with her loving family by her side, Wednesday, May 20 2026. Barbara was born in Niskayuna to the late Edward and Emeline Cramer Bonk and was a life-long Schenectady resident.

Barbara was a registered nurse and worked at the former St. Clare's Hospital before her children were born. Barbara was a long-time communicant of St. Luke's Church and a member of the church Altar Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites.

She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Joseph P. Pallante who died in 2024, her daughter, Kathleen Pallante, two siblings; Robert Bonk and William Bonk. She is survived by three children; Roberta (Bill) Fitzgerald, Leslie (John) Dagen and Joe Pallante, two grandchildren; Peter (Jessica) FitzSisti and Eli Fitzgerald, one great-grandchild Mia Fitzgerald - Wang, several nieces and nephews and caregiver and best friend, Catherine.

Calling hours will be Monday May 25, 2026, from 4 until 6 p.m. at the Gleason Funeral Home. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 26, at 1 p.m. at St. Luke's Church, 1241 State Street, Schenectady. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady, following the mass. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Church, 1241 State St., Schenectady, NY 12304. Roberta, Leslie, and Joe are eternally grateful to the Lord for our Catholic faith, and for entrusting us to such wonderful, devout parents.  We have been blessed beyond words.
