SCHENECTADY:  Catherine Contompasis, 97, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her loving family, Friday, May 30, 2025. Catherine was born in Albany, N. Y.  to the late Milton and Mary Cobates, and moved to Schenectady at the age of five. Catherine was a devoted member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church. She was an excellent cook, an amazing baker, and creative seamstress. Catherine was a friend to all, and her home was always open to everyone she knew.

Catherine and her late husband Ernest K. Contompasis were married for 56 years and raised their five children in Schenectady.   Catherine was predeceased by her husband, her son Peter Contompasis, and daughter Georgia Cord.  She is survived by three children, Marika (Tom Lopez)  Contompasis, Charles E. ( Laurie Ives) Contompasis, and Barbara Carroll, eight grandchildren and  seven great-grandchildren.

Calling hours, which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 4 until 7 p.m., at the Gleason Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be Wednesday, June 4 at 11 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will be in Park View Cemetery, Schenectady.
