On February 23, 2026 at 3:16 AM, Ceaser Singleton, 71, went home with the Lord, with his family by his side. Born on August 29,1954, Ceaser was the 13th child of Reverend Earl and Annie Mae Singleton, the first one born in a hospital, and the first one born in New York State. He attended school in both Rensselaer and Schenectady and developed strong, lifelong relationships in both cities. Ceaser started at Hudson Valley Community College but left to become a licensed Journeyman Wireman with the IBEW. He went to night school often throughout the years and later became an Instrumentation & Controls tech who traveled all over the country, working at nuclear plants during their outages. He also drove for Batesville Casket Co for many years, building great friendships there as well. Ceaser met Jean (Lassell) Singleton in 1985, under the fireworks at the Albany Empire Plaza. They were married a year later. During the next nearly 40 years they raised children and grandchildren, served on the bus ministry, street ministry, and Bible studies. They enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends and growing as part of the tight-knit group of Believers in their church. After retiring from the IBEW, Ceaser worked with Jean in real estate and became a favorite person to many of her client-friends.  Some of Ceaser's favorite things were studying the Word and getting into the deep waters of past and current affairs. He "knew" things decades before they happened, and often received phone calls from friends, years later, asking "how did you know!?" He knew because he intently studied the Word - and believed it - while studying history and the condition of man. He took the Prison Fellowship training and went into the Schenectady County Jail ministry for decades, even several years going by himself up into the tiers to speak the Word with the inmates, including during the covid shutdown. He loved teaching anyone who would listen that the gift of Salvation is free and can't be earned or bought, as it was already paid for by the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross. Ceaser is survived by his wife, Jean Singleton; 4 children, Jubbar Singleton (Kara), Ayanna Singleton Meisner (Chris), Marshon Harris, Joshua Singleton (Melinda); many grandchildren, great grandchildren and those who loved and called him Poppy and Uncle Ceaser; two sisters, Mittie Rucker (Bill), Gloria Singleton (Victor); and three brothers, Leonard Singleton, Floyd (Andrea) Singleton and Nadir Muwwakkil (Jaaz). Calling hours are at Electric City Baptist Church, 2350 Hamburg St, Rotterdam NY on Saturday, March 7, from 9:30 -11:30 a.m. Service following at the church beginning at 11:30 a.m. Interment at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Colonie. A Fellowship meal will be served for family and friends at the church following the interment. If you'd like to participate in the family's "theme" for the service, they are dressing like Poppy - plaids, flannels, jeans, carhartts etc welcome, but wear whatever is comfortable for you.
