SCHENECTADY: Charles R. Smith, 74, died at home, Tuesday, August 4, 2026. Charles was born in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked as a supervisor for Northern Rivers in Schenectady, until retiring.

Charles was predeceased by 4 siblings. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Susan Smith, two step-sons; Travis (Carla) Gray and John Gray. He is also survived by two siblings, several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Friday, August 14, 2026, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the Gleason Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted immediately following the calling hours. Burial, with military honors, will be at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
