ROTTERDAM:  Daniel R. O'Connor, 86, passed away Monday, January 12, 2026, at Ellis Hospital surrounded by his family. Daniel was born in Schenectady to the late Patrick and Mary Kelly O'Connor. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. Daniel was a police officer for the City of Schenectady, retiring as a detective in the Vice Squad. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Schenectady Veterans' Club, and the Retired Schenectady Police Association.

Daniel was predeceased by four siblings; Thomas (Frances) O'Connor, Evelyn (Joseph) Dunn, PJ (Bernadette) O'Connor, and John (Cecile) O'Connor, and two grandchildren; Daniel and Ethan O'Connor. He is survived by his devoted wife Mary Ann DeLuke O'Connor, five children; Heather (late Peter) McGrath, Christopher (Dana) O'Connor, Francis O'Connor, Erin (Dominic) Zanello, and Jarrod (Christina) O'Connor, eleven grandchildren; Joseph (Sarah), Patrick, Amanda, and Marissa O'Connor, Briana and Cole O'Connor, Lily, Jacob, and Maxwell Zanello, Ryan and Gabriel O'Connor, two great-grandchildren; Elle and Daniel O'Connor, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will be Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the Gleason Funeral Home from 3 until 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, January 19, 10:30 a.m. at St. Gabriel's Church, 3040 Hamburg Street, Rotterdam. Burial with military honors will be at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville, following the mass.
