It is with a great deal of sadness that we share the news that Edwin "Dutch" Eggleston lost his long and arduous battle with Parkinson's Disease and Lewy Body Dementia on January 12, 2026.

Born on December 11, 1950 in Schenectady, NY, a city he forever admired, to Edwin Carlton Eggleston Sr. and Arlene Eggleston who predeceased him, He was also predeceased by his brother Sgt. Major Michael Eggleston.

He is survived by his beloved wife Holly Clark, whom he married in Jackson's Gardens on September 25, 1982, and their children Kristen Clark Magnus (Boguslaw Biros) Kevin Clark (Robynn Deitcher Finn) Kelly Clark (Stuart Goodman) and Dylan Horan. Dutch was a profound influence in the lives of his children, whom he loved dearly, and instilled in them a sense of integrity, honesty, compassion, loyalty and stellar work ethic.  He also loves and proudly boasts grandchildren Ian, Adam and Jack Clark, Luna Horan, Elijah and Remi Ioffe.

Always kind, compassionate and gentle, he pursued a career in mental health, earning a BS and CPRP, enjoying a long career with Ellis Medicine as outpatient service coordinator, providing both individual and group therapy to the serious and persistently mentally ill population of the county. He acted as Co-Chairman for a series of workshops after 9/11 called "We're All In This Together; A Community Response to Terrorism.". He also served as President of the Critical In incident Stress Management Team, designed to help first responders manage work crises, as well as President of the Schenectady East Rotary Club from 2005 to 2006.

Dutch, his family and friends loved the ocean, spending many summers at "Uncle Tim's Cottage" in North Truro, where four generations enjoyed watching waves, looking for horseshoe crabs, whale watching, deep sea fishing and making cherished memories. Because of his love for life on, he and Holly built their home on Mariaville Lake, "a small drinking town with a fishing problem" where they spent more than twenty years embraced in the friendship of those around them.  It was an idyllic life, boating, hosting guests for rest and relaxation and watching the grandkids enjoy water sports and fishing, probably the biggest thrill of all.

Dutch was admired by all who knew him - clients, colleagues and friends.  He made a difference in many lives through his benevolence and guidance through difficult times, for which he will be always remembered.

Calling hours will be at the Gleason Funeral Home, 730 Union Street, Schenectady, NY from 1 until 3 pm on Friday, January 16, 2026, with a Celebration of Life to follow at Katie O'Byrnes, Erie Blvd., Schenectady. In lieu of flowers, to respect Dutch's love for animals, it is requested that contributions be made to any animal shelter.It is also asked that all be more kind than necessary, for we don't know what battles they face.
