Eric William Fluty, a beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend, passed away on the afternoon of October 31st 2025
Eric was born on February 8th 1970 to his parents William and Patricia Fluty in Schenectady New York. He spent his childhood developing the traits that would make him into the one of kind person he was, developing a "do it yourself" mindset and always determined to figure out a way to get your goals accomplished.
This would carry over into Eric's days in becoming a Police Officer at the age of 25. He spent his years of duty with the Schoharie Police and the Schenectady County Sheriffs serving and protecting friends, family and members of the community for 29 years. He would also graduate from Empire State College and SUNY Albany in 1999 with a degree in Business Administration. He would go on to marry Tracy (Heller) Fluty in 1995, where they would have two children Eric and Juliet.
After retiring in 2022, Eric began some of his new quests in making a positive impact in his community. Eric would pursue teaching and coaching at the Schenectady Ring of Hope and became a Bronze level Boxing Coach through USA Boxing. He served as an active member of the board where he was elected President in 2025. He would also become the Director of Campus Safety at SUNY SCCC in 2022 before becoming Schenectady County Community Colleges first ever Associate Vice President of Campus Safety in 2024.
Eric embraced life with a passion for reading, jazz music, drumming and putting together some of the most bold outfits one could imagine. He poured his heart into Boxing as both a trainer and a fighter. Expressing himself through art and brought strength, confidence and laughter to everyone who knew him.
Eric was a beloved person in his community and profession, with an impact that makes it waves beyond measure. He is survived by his parents, Bill and Patricia Fluty, Wife Tracy Fluty, Children Eric and Kathryn (Nowosielski) Fluty, Juliet Fluty and Michael Corcoran, Siblings Ryan Fluty and Katie Johnson, Melissa (Fluty) Milos and Timothy Milos, Niece Morgan Milos and Nephew Ryan Milos
Calling hours will be from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m., Thursday, November 6th, 2025, at St John the Evangelist Church, 810 Union Street, Schenectady New York. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, November 7 at 11:30 a.m. also at St John the Evangelist Church. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna following the mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Eric Fluty's name to the Schenectady Ring of Hope Boxing Club, 118 Erie Blvd Schenectady NY 12305, C/O Jeff Christina. Online donations can also be made through the Ring of Hope Boxing Hope website.
