ROTTERDAM:  Gerald M. "Jerry" Engel, 84, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2025, after a 7 years long battle with multiple myeloma. Jerry was born in Albany to the late August and Marion O'Connell Engel. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. Jerry was a sheet metal worker and foreman with the Sheet Metal Worker's Union, Local 83.

Jerry enjoyed gardening, golfing and winter trips to Florida. He was a member of the Schenectady Veterans Club and the  Rotterdam Elks Lodge.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son-in-law; Frank Daley. He is survived by his wife; Patricia Charleson Engel, three children; Gerald (Patti O'Connor) Engel, Jr., Judith Engel and Joseph Engel, five grandchildren; Ian (Aimee) Engel, Alex (Valerie) Engel, Ruby Daley, Madeleine Engel and Joseph Roberts and one great-granddaughter; Remi Engel.

Calling hours will be Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025, from 3 until 6 p.m. at the Gleason Funeral Home.

Burial, with military honors, will be Friday, Oct. 24 at 10:30 at the Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Those wishing to attend the committal service are asked to gather at the main entrance of the cemetery at 10:20 a.m.

Jerry's family would like the thank the staff at Community Hospice and New York Oncology and Hematology for the excellent care they provided.
