June M. (Goffredo) DeRose
Schenectady – June M. DeRose, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026, at the age of 94, after a brief illness.
June was predeceased by her loving husband of 44 years, Joe DeRose, who died in 2007. She was also predeceased by her parents, Angelo and Grace Goffredo, siblings Mary Finarelli, Grace Martinelli, Rose Cafararo, Georgianna Lasher, Angela Verteramo, Jean DiBlasio, and Angelo ‘Guffy’ Goffredo. June was also predeceased by a stepson, Michael DeRose. June is survived by her step-children Joe (Lynn) DeRose, Margaret (DeRose) Bedell, Patricia DeRose (Joanne Robbins), niece Sherry Marciano, several other nieces and nephews, and Lisa (Robert) Near, whom she loved and cherished as a daughter.
June was a life-long resident of Schenectady. She graduated from Nott Terrace High School in 1950. She went on to work at Schenectady Chemical for 23 years before finishing her career at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
June enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening, but most of all, she loved her family and many dear friends. In her later years, she loved spending time at the Racino in Saratoga and at Rivers Casino in Schenectady. June also loved to shop for clothes, and she always looked beautiful in her many coordinated outfits, jewelry and her hair just so.
Calling hours will be held at Gleason Funeral Home, 730 Union Street, Schenectady, on Friday, September 11, from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m., followed by a service at the funeral home. Internment will immediately follow at Sts. Cyril and Method Cemetery in Rotterdam.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and June was born and died in September and while June loved flowers, her wishes were to have donations made in her name to St. Jude’s. Donations can be made on-line at www.stjude.org or mailed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
