On the morning of August 2, 2025, after a brief illness, Louise Monarch went to heaven. Louise and her 7 siblings were born and raised in Schenectady, the children of Pietro and Filomena Pileggi. As a child, she attended various schools and churches, singing in their choirs and reading (her favorite hobby) the required book lists. Louise graduated from Mont Pleasant High School with the class of 1945. She was the MPHS class historian and a member of their reunion committee for over 60 years tracking down classmates (before computers) to convince them to join in the fun! After a brief stint working for the phone company, Louise attended Albany School of Practical Nursing. She bloomed under the tutelage of The Daughters of Charity, becoming close friends with her instructors, even visiting them in their retirement in Emmitsburg, MD. Louise loved nursing and worked for St Clares Hospital in Schenectady, taking care of babies in the nursery and assisting patients in the Emergency Department. While there, she met her "Charlie baby". Their first date was at St Anthony's Festa, and they went on to have 46 yrs of marriage, until his passing in 2000. During her 98 years of life, Louise raised her children and cared for her Grandchildren. She sold Avon (funny, since she only wore lipstick), and demonstrated microwave cooking making many batches of peanut brittle during its popularity in the 70's. Louise is best known for her generosity of time and her baking skills. She loved music and writing poetry. She never met a garage sale she didn't like! In her 40's, she attended SCCC, earning a degree in Hotel Technology, where graduated with honors and received the school's Presidential Medal of Honor.

Louise attended St John the Evangelist and St Mary's churches. She donated her time and baking talents to both. She was a member of St Johns Rosary Society. She was a devout Catholic and firmly believed in the power of prayer. She could be counted on for those prayers and lighting her candles to lift those intentions to THE higher power. "Light us a bon fire Nana", was a common request from her Granddaughters. Louise was a follower of every Saint, but was especially devoted to Padre Pio and St Jude. Lousie always told her children to learn to pray for themselves, however, even in her absence we're still going to count on her for her prayers. Although her memory faded the last few years, our memory of her and the hole she leaves in our hearts will not.

She is predeceased by her husband Charles A. Monarch; parents Pietro and Filomena Pileggi; sisters Ann Hupert and Rose Pileggi; brothers Donald Lawrence, Peter Pileggi Sr., Louis Pileggi, William Lawrence, and Floyd Pileggi. She is survived by her children, Mary Christa Fogg, Remy Charles Monarch and Anne Camille Monarch; grandchildren Julianne L Fogg, Marygrace V Fogg and Angelica R Fogg, and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a calling hour, Monday, August 11, 2025, from 9:15 until 10:15 a.m. at the Gleason Funeral Home. Following the calling hour, her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church. Burial will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
