SCHENECTADY: Mary Ann passed on to her eternal life on May 5th, 2026, after a long battle with health problems.
Mary Ann was born in 1960. She was the second child of her parents Stanley F. and Eve G. Fiminski. Mary Ann graduated from St. Mary's Parish School and Notre Dame High School and the Ellis School of Nursing. She also earned a degree in nursing from SUNY Utica. She went on to a long career as a nurse. First working at Ellis Hospital and then with the Schenectady County Health Department.
Mary Ann loved to travel. She took many trips across the country and Canada, several cruises and even a vacation in Australia. She was the soul of her family, following in the footsteps of her grandmother and then her mother. She saw to it that family traditions like the Christmas Eve Vigil and Easter Morning Brunch continued after her mom passed away. She was an active member of the St. Mary's parish family, before St. Mary's closed and the was active in St. Luke's parish.
Mary Ann is survived by her brother, Stanley, several cousins, many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her close friends who were always by her side through her brave fight with her illness. They came to visit with her weekly. No matter how far they had to travel to see, her they came to boost her spirits, make her smile and let her know she was loved.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the Gleason Funeral Home. Following the calling hours, her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. at St. Luke's Church 1241 State St., Schenectady. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Church, 1241 State St., Schenectady, NY 12304. Condolence messages may be left at www.gleasonfuneralhomeinc.com.
