NISKAYUNA: Peter DeRuscio,95, died peacefully at home, Monday, March 2, 2026.  He was a retired mason, contractor, real estate agent and employee of the Schenectady City Engineering Department.

He was born in Schenectady, New York on February 24, 1931 to Antonio and Emilia (Capobianco) DeRuscio. He was the fourth of seven children, and a graduate of Nott Terrace High School.

He was a Korean War Veteran, having served overseas before marrying his best friend, Dolores "Doe" Mancini, on October 16, 1955. They lived a beautiful life together until she predeceased him in 2025, after almost 70 years of marriage.

Peter was honored to have been one of the founders of Pine Haven Country Club, and act as its first president in 1960.

In 1972, Peter and Doe bought "camp" at Sacandaga Lake and spent decades enjoying the sunshine, and beach with family and friends. Incredibly proud of camp, he spent countless hours repairing – having built his beloved fireplace in 1974 and also "Pete's Place" in the back.

Predeceased by his wife, Dolores, as well as his brothers, James, Joseph and John DeRuscio; sisters, Genevieve Kelly, Antoinette Stuart, and Louise Lichorat.

He is survived by his two daughters, Linda DeRuscio, and Lois (Dave) Lupo; his grandson, Kevin (Carleigh) Kent, and granddaughter, Caroline (Nick) Rhoades; and seven great-grandchildren, Margot and Beckett Kent, and Adaline, Peter, Millie, Dean and Holly Rhoades.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass, Friday, March 6, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 810 Union St., Schenectady. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be private.  Condolence messages may be left at www.gleasonfuneralhomeinc.com.
