ROTTERDAM: Roni Jean Prior Bylina, 74, died peacefully on April 1st, 2026, at her home in Rotterdam surrounded by her daughter and dear friends. Roni was born in Schenectady to parents Frank and Elsie Prior on May 1st, 1951. Roni graduated from Linton High School class of 1969, where she was a majorette. A graduate of the Spencer School of Business with a degree in Executive Secretary studies, Roni held numerous secretarial positions during her working life. Her career included tenures at General Electric and Excelsior College, where she remained until her retirement.

A longtime parishioner at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Mont Pleasant, Roni actively engaged in its social life, especially enjoying the weekly coffee hours to connect with friends. She also valued opportunities to reconnect with former Linton classmates and alumni. Roni was a member of the planning committee for the Linton class of 1969's 50th high school reunion and frequently attended alumni social events around Schenectady. She loved listening to the oldies and often went with friends to see shows at Proctor's Theater.

Undoubtedly, Roni was greeted by a chorus of happy barks and wagging tails at the Rainbow Bridge. Her immense heart for animals meant she never met a dog she didn't instantly adore. Her favorite pastime was neighborhood walks, always armed with treats for every furry friend she encountered. Roni knew every dog on her street by name, and they eagerly anticipated her arrival. After the loss of her beloved Maya and Pugsley a couple of years ago, Roni continued to share her love by fostering dogs and caring for her friends' pets whenever needed.

She is survived by her daughter Jaime Bylina, and her cousin Donna Wend. Her beloved goddaughter Tallulah will miss her immensely.

A special thank you to Roni's dear friend Linda DePaula, who provided around-the-clock care to Roni in her final days. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff at Community Hospice, who went above and beyond to ensure Roni's comfort in her final days.

A funeral service, which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be conducted Monday, April 6, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Gleason Funeral Home. There will be no calling hours. Following the service, burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Community Hospice or Homeward Bound Dog Rescue.
