Sally Shave Wait

GLENVILLE:  Sally Shave Wait, also known as Sally Dean, passed away May 30, 2025, at home after a battle with cancer.

Born May 17, 1949, in Niskayuna, NY, she was the daughter of Ralph and Madeline (Robertson) Shave, both deceased.   Sally was a 1967 graduate of Mohonasen H.S. and worked most of her life as an admin assistant in various New York State offices including the Office of the Governor. At one point in the 1970s she took a break from state work and enlisted in the U.S. Army.  She trained and served as a Signal Intercept specialist in Military Intelligence. After serving a tour of duty in Okinawa, rising to the rank of Sergeant, she ended her enlistment and lived in Maryland while working in legal offices in the Washington D.C. area.  After the birth of her son Zack, she returned to Schenectady and worked at legal offices before returning to state employment. She continued with the state until her retirement. She enjoyed her retirement with her many friends, family, and husband Dave.

She is survived by her son Zachery Ayscue, his wife Mia Link, granddaughter Ani, and grandson Jay of Jenkintown, Pennsylvania.  Also, by her husband David Wait of Glenville, her sister Susan Kopp of Schenectady, sister-in-law Gale Leonard of Schenectady, stepdaughter Chelsea Wait in Colorado, and niece and nephew.

A thanks to all her close friends, especially June McGarry who spent so much time helping her through the illness. A thanks to all visited and helped her on the way. A Celebration of Her Life will be held on June 21, 2025, at the Scotia United Methodist Church at 3 p.m.
