NISKAYUNA: Sylvan M. Obando, 73, died Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Albany Medical Center. Sylvan was born in Bukidnon, Philippines to the late Domingo and Rosalina (Manago) Obando. He worked as an electrical engineer in the Philippines for several years. Subsequently, he worked, in the same capacity, for A.E. Rosen in Albany, NY. Sylvan is survived by his wife; Flordeliza (Montebon) Obando, three children; Sylviene Marie Obando, Sylvan Samuel Obando and Sean Samuel Obando and five siblings.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated, Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 810 Union St., Schenectady, NY. There will be a calling period with viewing, preceding the mass, from 9:45 until 10:30 a.m. at the Gleason Funeral Home, 730 Union St., Schenectady, NY.  Interment will be in the Philippines.
