William F.
Silvano
Mar 21, 1957 — Mar 9, 2026
Rotterdam
ROTTERDAM — William F. Silvano, 68, passed away suddenly at home on Monday, March 9, 2026.
William was born in Albany to Rosemary "Pat" (O'Loughlin) Silvano and the late Eugene Silvano. He was a graduate of Linton High School and attended the Culinary Arts program at Schenectady County Community College.
William was an avid fisherman who once worked on a fishing boat in Maine. A gifted craftsman, he enjoyed building his own boat as a personal hobby and assisted in the restoration of a commercial fishing vessel. He was also a talented pencil sketch artist, often creating framed works as gifts for others and occasionally taking on professional commissions. His woodworking skills were shared in the renovation of the Scotia Theatre, and he also served as a caretaker for the Central Park Rose Garden. Known for his selflessness, William would do anything for anyone. He loved to cook and will be remembered for his great sense of humor.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two siblings: James (Pam) Silvano of Schenectady and Joanne (Steven) Pigliavento of Burnt Hills; and his nieces and nephews, Alexandra, Matthew, Emma, and Joshua Pigliavento, who were the joys of his life.
Funeral services will be private. Condolence messages may be left at www.gleasonfuneralhomeinc.com.
